Day 1
The Cry of the Earth, the Cry of the Poor
Spend time with the photo

Saint Francis of Assisi reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us. We have forgotten that our very bodies are made up of her elements; we breathe her air and receive life and refreshment from her waters.
Saint Francis was particularly concerned for God’s creation and for the poor and outcast.
The deterioration of the environment disproportionately affects the most vulnerable people on the planet.

Laudato Si' declares that we should hear the cry of the earth,
hear the cry of the poor,
and
respond.
